Standing Couple Poses That Actually Look Good

AI Couple Photo Maker Grand Staircase style example

Standing is the default for couple photos and also the easiest way to look stiff. The fix is almost always to stop standing shoulder-to-shoulder facing straight ahead.

The side-by-side with a turn

Stand next to each other but angle both bodies about 30 degrees toward one another, hips slightly closer than shoulders. It reads as connected instead of two strangers in an elevator.

The wrap-around from behind

One partner stands behind the other, arms loosely around their waist or shoulders, chin near their ear. Works for a big height difference and gives the shorter person the front of the frame.

The hand-hold with a lean

Hold hands and let the outside arms swing naturally while both of you lean gently away from center, creating a slight A-shape. Small, but it removes the board-stiff look instantly.

The face-to-face

Turn fully toward each other, foreheads close, hands on waists or holding hands between you. Shot slightly from the side, this is the most reliably flattering standing pose there is.

What do we do with our hands while standing?

Give them a job: hold hands, rest one on the other's waist or chest, or tuck one into a pocket. Hands that don't know where to go are the number-one giveaway of a posed photo.
