Maternity Couple Photo Ideas That Aren't Overdone
Maternity photos are worth taking and easy to over-stage. The strongest ones look like a normal portrait of the two of you that happens to include a bump, not a themed production.
Shoot around 30 to 34 weeks
The bump is clearly there but movement is still comfortable. Earlier and it doesn't read; much later and standing for a session gets tiring.
Keep the posing simple and connected
Partner standing behind with hands on the bump, both hands together on the bump, or just holding each other and looking down. You don't need more than three setups.

Window light, a plain wall, phone on a timer. A calm bedroom shot at 8am often beats a scheduled outdoor session, and there's no travel while heavily pregnant.
Should the older sibling or the dog be in maternity photos?
A few, yes — but shoot the couple-only frames first while everyone has patience, then bring others in. The two-of-you shots are the ones you'll want later.
