Couple Photo Captions for Instagram (That Aren't Cringey)
A caption is doing one of three jobs: giving context, making a joke, or saying something real. Pick one. Trying to do all three is where captions go wrong.
Context: just say where and when
"Third anniversary, same restaurant" or "finally in the same time zone" tells the story and lets the photo carry the emotion. Understated almost always ages better than a paragraph.
Joke: keep it short and specific to you two
An inside reference, a line one of you actually says, or a mild drag ("he made me do five takes") reads as a real couple. A recycled pun about your "other half" does not.

If you want to be sincere, be plain: "still my favourite person to do nothing with." The moment a caption reaches for "you are my sunshine and my moon," it stops sounding like you.
What to skip
Long song lyrics, anything with more than one heart emoji, "tag your person," and captions that are clearly written to be screenshotted. The photo is the post; the caption is a footnote.
Should the caption match the style of the photo?
Loosely, yes. A dramatic editorial couple photo can take a one-word caption or none at all; a goofy candid wants a goofy line. A sincere caption under a joke photo reads as a mismatch.
